Today, Pelenato Sakalia, CEO of the Pacific Business Trust, has announced the appointment of Tracey Smith who will join the Pacific Business Trust as Acting General Manager of Service Delivery, in a secondment role. 

With the exponential rise in demand for business support from our Pacific clients and communities, the Pacific Business Trust has grown significantly over the past year. PBT has further identified areas where the most value for Pacific businesses can be delivered effectively with a focus on the development of our programmes and services offering.  In order to successfully fulfil existing initiatives and pursue new opportunities, it’s important to have senior leadership in place to support our growth. 

Tracey will oversee the overall delivery of the Pacific Business Trust’s core programmes and services, as well as the implementation of the budget and operational plan. Tracey’s expertise in business growth will help to ensure that high standards are maintained and that value is being delivered to New Zealand businesses through our programmes and services strategy.

Tracey has an extensive leadership career, most recently, as Regional Commissioner for North and West Auckland at the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) where she has spent over 30 years working in variety of roles, including leading the Central Processing Unit for 20 years. During her tenure, Tracey has been at the forefront of implementing significant changes such as centralisation, growth, automation, and processing. 

No stranger to outdoor sports, Tracey has played both rugby and netball competitively. While she enjoys a good challenge at work, she also enjoys coaching and empowering people off-field. Tracey’s dedication to engaging and educating others to reach their full potential will bring a valuable contribution to the team.
