Red light setting is now in place for New Zealand
As announced by the Government yesterday, Aotearoa New Zealand has now been placed in the Red traffic light setting because omicron is now circulating in Auckland and possibly Nelson/Marlborough region if not elsewhere. We should be prepared to stay at the Red setting for some weeks. Guidance on the Covid-19 Protection Framework and operating your business at the Red level can be found at business.govt.nz. here, scroll down for guidance for your industry.
Here are some pointers:
Hospitality, businesses and retail are allowed to open at Red but distancing is required.
For information on operating your businesses with My Vaccine Passes, the NZ Pass app and compliance view.
Working from home is encouraged where possible.
Domestic travel is still allowed there are no travel boundaries.
Contact tracing locations of interest check the Ministry of Health website.
Those 18 years or over who have been fully vaccinated 4 months ago are now eligible for the booster, find a vaccination centre.
Support our fellow Tongan community
The Pacific Business Trust team thoughts and prayers have been with the people of Tonga and those in Aotearoa New Zealand waiting to hear from families back home after the eruptions last weekend. As the extent of the devastation is becoming clearer and telecommunications are still being restored with Tonga, the Red Cross has been working together with the Tongan Red Cross to connect people where possible through their Restoring Family Links service. Businesses can donate here.
Take your business ideas to the next level with Hatch Pacific
Our Hatch Pacific programme for 2022 is back in full gear after a well-deserved break over the holidays and the first online courses will start on 25 January. The foundation programme is designed for young Pasifika (ages 18 – 35) who are thinking about starting a business and take their ideas forward.
It is an opportunity not to be missed! It’s FREE and the Hatch learning environment is full of encouragement, fun and energy. Do the course from the comfort of your home. You don’t have to have a business idea to join, just the interest and passion to start a business. Please share with anyone who might be interested or is working with our youth.
