Apply Now for COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Round #3

Before heading into the weekend we just wanted to remind you that the Government has opened the third round of the COVID-19 Wage Subsidy.

Applications for COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021 # 3 opened this morning, Friday, 17 September 2021 and will close at 11:59 pm on Thursday, 30 September 2021. 

The Wage Subsidy August 2021 payments ($1,200 per fortnight per employee) are to support eligible sole traders, self employed and employers to continue to pay themselves or their employees and protect jobs affected by the change in COVID-19 Alert Levels.

Apply Now for COVID-19 Resurgence Support Payment Round #2

Applications also opened today, for the second round of the Resurgence Support Payment for eligible businesses and self-employed people to get support with business costs like rent or fixed costs.

Businesses can apply for the Resurgence Support Payment at the same time as the Wage Subsidy Scheme and you can apply for the second payment even if you have received the first payment. 

Payments received under the RSP are not subject to income tax and must be used to cover business expenses such as wages and fixed costs. The base payment is $1,500 then $400 per employee, for example a business with 5 full time employees (working more than 20 hours per week) would be entitled to a payment of $3,500.

Here’s the link to all the information on Inland Revenue’s website. To apply you’ll need have a myIR account, if you don’t have one already it just takes a few minutes to create one. You’ll also need to have  a NZBN number in order to receive the payment, which can also be done online but may take a couple of days to confirm.

Once your application is approved, most receive their payment in full within 5 working days. Payments will remain open until one month after the whole of Aotearoa New Zealand returns to alert level 1.
