Hatch Pacific Young Entrepreneurs

It’s been eight weeks since our budding young entrepreneurs started the Hatch Pacific Foundation programme. We congratulate our first cohort who have successfully finished the course and are now ready to start their next chapter. We look forward to following their business journey and making use of their new skills to successfully start their own business.

This month we’re welcoming our next cohort to the new Vaka programme which focuses on testing out business ideas. Each participant will be provided with tools and techniques that will help identify whether they have a viable market for their business ideas as well as opportunity to hear directly from inspirational business owners and leaders from different industries and sectors. Covid-19 Protection Framework – Auckland at Red

  As Auckland has now moved to the new Covid-19 Protection Framework, businesses can now open and operate under the guidelines of the new traffic light system. Auckland moved to the red light setting as of December 2nd 11:59pm, introducing more flexibility and security for Aucklanders with the introduction and use of vaccine passes.

Money to keep your business running in December

We know many businesses, especially in Auckland are still feeling the impacts of the last lockdown. Applications for the final Wage Subsidy payment closes at midnight tonight. Click here to find out more and how you can apply.

If your business had low income in October and November because of the Covid Alert level changes, you could get up to 4 non-refundable payments from the Government and is the same if you are self-employed.

This payment is called the Resurgence Support Payment and the Transition Payment. To be eligible, your business must have faced a 30% revenue drop between 3 October and 9 November. Click here for more information and how you can apply.

The Pacific Business Trust returns to office

Following the move to the COVID Protection Framework, we want to give an update on how we’re continuing to evolve our thinking on where our staff will be working over the next couple of weeks.  

Since the beginning of the pandemic, PBT has always prioritised the wellbeing of our staff while also taking care of our clients and partners. During the three months of lockdown our team have needed to work remotely, continuing to deliver services as well as launching our Hatch Pacific Young Entrepreneurs programme and the Activate Tāmaki Makaurau initiative. 

On Monday 6th our CEO made the decision to put in place a return-to-office plan however still allowing the flexibility for staff to work from home. Our priority will be the continuation of delivery of service as we transition back into the office. We will also focus our team on helping our Auckland businesses in particular to navigate the current environment and build more resilient businesses with cashflow management, online capabilities and HR, health and safety from a Covid perspective as part of the Activate Tāmaki Makaurau work.
