One Week to go – Pay Pacific Gap talanoa

Are you a Pacific worker, self-employed contractor, or business owner? We are inviting you to come and talanoa with us. Share your experiences of racial discrimination, unequal pay, work condition, lack of progression and equal employment opportunities.   Our Pacific team and the New Zealand Human Rights Commission are hosting a talanoa on improving pay gap and working conditions for businesses and workers next Wednesday.

Minimum wage is increasing on 1 April   As a business owner or manager, you need to be ready for the increase in minimum wage rates on Friday, 1 April 2022.   If you have not yet talked to your accountant, payroll provider or your finance/HR teams, now is the time. It’s also an opportunity to check your employment records, processes, and systems.   The details of the changes are:

  • The adult minimum wage will increase from $20.00 to $21.20 per hour.

  • The minimum wage for starting-out and training will go up from $16.00 to $16.96 per hour

There is lots of exciting sport playing this weekend. Catch Moana Pasifika play the Gallagher Chiefs on Sky Sport this Saturday at 7:05pm in the only Super Rugby Pacific game played in NZ this weekend. The squad will make their much-anticipated return to Mount Smart Stadium, albeit without a crowd. Stay up-to-date and follow the team on Facebook or Instagram. On Sunday, 11 am the White Ferns play the defending champions England to stay in World Cup contention in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. The game is at Eden Park and limited tickets are available to watch the game, and follow all the action on Facebook and Instagram.   You can also watch country’s leading female rugby players in the Super Rugby Aupiki Sunday in Round 3. The Hurricanes Poua play their second and final match against Matatū at FMG Stadium Waikato on Sunday at 5.45pm, while the nib Blues and Chiefs Manawa face off to determine who will be crowned the inaugural Sky Super Rugby Aupiki champion at 7.45pm.
