As a subcontractor, tradie or business owner, being aware of any environmental risks that could be associated with your work and prepared to manage these properly is a requirement for most contractors/buyers, which will help you to win contracts.

In this workshop, you will learn about the key environmental management and sustainability risks and opportunities in New Zealand, and how to successfully manage them in your business.

The following topics will be explored:

• Environmental risks such as chemical spills, noise, odour and harmful material handling – how to reduce the risks and manage problems

• Carbon emissions, waste management, staff engagement, community relations and other key sustainability risks and opportunities that clients are increasingly interested in

• Common environmental and sustainability questions being asked in tenders and how best to answer them.

You will leave with a clear understanding of what is expected from businesses, where your biggest risks and opportunities lie and an action list on how to make your business more sustainable, and successful.

Michael LeRoy-Dyson - Associate Director, Audit & Assurance at Deloitte.

With over 30 years of experience in environmental management and business sustainability, Michael has worked across a broad range of business sizes and sectors. He is experienced in developing and implementing innovative and successful sustainability solutions, from strategic planning through to frontline programme delivery. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2017, Michael provided sustainability services as a consultant, director and manager to local and central government, corporate and SME businesses.

This is part of a series of workshops that make up the foundation of our refreshed Procurement Support Service, which helps to prepare Pacific businesses to apply for and win large contracts.
