Do you or your workers need to isolate?
Covid-19 Leave Support Scheme is available to employers, including self-employed people, to help pay their employees who have been advised to self-isolate because of Covid-19 and can’t work at home.
To be eligible for a one-week payment of Leave Support Scheme your employee will have been advised to self-isolate for at least four consecutive calendar days.
The COVID-19 Leave Support Scheme is paid at the rate of:
$600.00 a week for full-time workers who were working 20 hours or more a week.
$359 a week for part-time workers who were working less than 20 hours a week.
If your employee needs to keep self-isolating for at least 11 calendar days or more and can’t work from home, you can apply for a second week payment of the Leave Support Scheme.
For information on the Covid-19 Leave Support Scheme check out the fact sheets available in different languages which gives a summary and are linked below or visit Work and Income’s website, click here.
You’re invited! Online talanoa on Pacific Pay Gap
The Human Rights Commission is conducting the Pacific Pay Gap Inquiry to better understand why the Pacific Pay Gap exists and how it can be closed.
In 2020, the gap in average hourly wages experienced by Pacific men was 24%, and Pacific women were 27% compared to New Zealand European men. Pacific Pay Gaps are substantial and persistent and have not changed significantly for ten years.
The inquiry wants to hear from Pacific businesses and self-employed contractors about what will help improve Pacific workers' working conditions and pay in the construction industry. To find out more, click here.
Join the talanoa online next Wednesday, 23 March, at 4:00 pm.
Don't forget to share this with someone interested in joining.
What the workshop will discuss:
What factors contribute to the low earnings of Pacific workers in construction?
What are the solutions?
What role can Pacific businesses play in improving Pacific workers' pay and working conditions?
