It was a very special and exciting day for the Pacific Business Trust as Mary Los’e was formally welcomed with a pōwhiri as our new CEO.
The event, held in Auckland, celebrated both Pacific and Māori culture and was supported by 110 guests in attendance, including Pasifika community leaders, Mana Whenua and Whānau, the PBT Board and staff.
Mary shared her aspiration for the Pacific Business Trust in Aotearoa, “There is so much that we can do together, and it will take the hearts, minds, and ancestry of each of us to do that now.”
“As a Pacific Economic Development Agency, we have the license to include, connect and engage with all businesses and to integrate our inherent capabilities to serve in the best interests of all people.”
Mary shared her own journey and the many steps that have led her to this point today, honouring her parents, who have passed away, and the strong leaders she has had around her for their love, guidance, and wisdom.
“Today is the beginning of my investment into creating pathways for prosperity for our children and our children’s children.”
In closing, Mary shared an excerpt from one of her favourite poems, Matau Mana Moana, by Dr Karlo Mila:
You are the thread between what has been before and what will come.
As long we have breath we have so much to remember we have so much to learn we have so much to teach.
Let us serve Let us serve.
We look forward to this new chapter in PBT, building strong partnerships and serving our Pasifika business community with Mary at the helm.
